A team of seven adults (Jonathan Graves, Judy Kendall, Vicky Fleming, Bill and Wanda Sprinkle, Shannon Kenimer, Robert Kraner) and four youth (Olivia Langfels, Logan Frederick, Yair Romero, and Lilah Cooper) from Central Baptist Church left Sunday, July 9th to travel to Haven of Rest near Inez, KY in Martin County. Haven of Rest is a facility for families to stay who are visiting loved ones incarcerated in the federal prison nearby.

Joyce Scroggs, director of Haven of Rest, planned projects for three ministry teams. Teams included construction, sorting clothes and serving customers at a thrift store, and leading backyard Bible clubs at two apartment complexes in Prestonsburg, KY.

On July 10th, the construction team (Jonathan Graves, Yair Romero, Bill Sprinkle) put together a swing set and swing for a local family while the other teams passed out flyers for the backyard Bible clubs. On July 11th, the construction team (with additional help from Pastor Steven Scherer and J.C. True) built a wheelchair ramp for a gentleman in Martin, KY. The thrift store team (Judy Kendall, Wanda Sprinkle, and Lilah Cooper) began a three-day stint working at the thrift store. The backyard Bible club team (Vicky Fleming, Shannon Kenimer, Robert Kraner, Logan Frederick, Olivia Langfels) also began their work at the apartment complexes. On July 12-13, the construction team cleaned up their worksite, pressure washed playground equipment, and mowed the Haven of Rest property. On Friday, July 14, the team returned to Paris.

The team shared about their experience in Inez on Sunday, July 16th during the evening worship service at CBC. You can listen to the audio here.
